Community Remembrance Project Update
Pupils at Woodlands Academy are nearing completion of a very special community project after being invited by the Town Mayor to create a series of silhouettes that will be displayed across Spilsby in remembrance of local servicemen who lost their lives during the First World War.
The project honours the memory of 30 soldiers and two sailors from the local area, with pupils working hard in the school’s workshop to carefully cut, prepare and paint each silhouette. As the artwork takes shape, students have demonstrated impressive craftsmanship, creativity and dedication, producing silhouettes that will serve as a powerful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The project has provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to contribute to their local community while learning about the significance of remembrance and the sacrifices made by previous generations. Throughout the process, students have developed practical skills while taking pride in being involved in a project that will be seen by residents and visitors across the town.
The silhouettes are now almost complete, and we are delighted to share a first look at some of the artwork created by our talented pupils. Once finished, the displays will be installed throughout Spilsby ahead of Remembrance events, helping to ensure the stories of those who served are remembered for years to come.
We are incredibly proud of everyone involved and look forward to seeing the finished silhouettes displayed across the town.
