Matthew Page

Headteacher

Matthew joined Woodlands in April 2023. Matthew brings a strong background in school leadership. He previously served as Assistant Headteacher in Leicestershire, where his expertise in curriculum design and development played a key role in his last school achieving a Good Ofsted rating.

Before his career in education, Matthew successfully ran two companies specialising in coaching and data analytics. He worked as a data analyst in professional football with clubs including Huddersfield Town, Lincoln City and Portsmouth. He currently works for Lincoln City as a recruitment analyst outside of Woodlands.

Matthew returned full-time to education in 2020 and in 2023, he joined Woodlands Academy as Deputy Headteacher and contributed significantly to the school’s Good Ofsted rating.

He became Headteacher in February 2025 and combines his data-driven approach with compassionate leadership to create a calm, supportive environment that meets the unique needs of every student, nurturing both their academic progress and personal growth.

He holds the National Professional Qualifications for Leading Teaching (NPQLT), SENCo (NPQSENCo) and Headship (NPQH). He is also a Level 5 Careers Leader.

Jodie Turner

Assistant Headteacher – SENCo, Inclusion & Behaviour

Jodie joined Woodlands in January 2023. With over 10 years of experience in both SEN and mainstream education settings, Jodie has held a wide range of roles within schools before joining Woodlands. A consistently outstanding teacher, Jodie has a proven track record in supporting pupils’ holistic development and played a key role in Woodlands achieving its recent Good Ofsted rating.

Jodie is deeply passionate about SEND, firmly believing that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and thrive. She is committed to ensuring that Woodlands students feel safe and supported, fostering a calm and nurturing environment where they can learn and grow. In her role, Jodie works tirelessly to meet the social, emotional, and mental health needs of all students, while ensuring staff receive the training and resources needed to provide the best possible support.

As a local to the area, Jodie is dedicated to strengthening Woodlands’ role within the Spilsby community and providing enriching experiences for all pupils.

She is currently completing her NPQ for SENCos.

Ryan Green

Assistant Headteacher – Curriculum, Teaching & Personal Development

Ryan joined Woodlands in November 2023. Ryan brings over 10 years of diverse experience across a variety of educational settings. He began his career in a special needs school before moving to a secondary school in Lincoln. Prior to joining Woodlands, Ryan spent three years working at a primary school in Lincoln. Ryan has delivered and contributed to teaching across all four key stages.

Ryan played a key role in Woodlands acheiving its recent Good grading from Ofsted. With a deep understanding of curriculum intent, implementation, and impact, Ryan is a consistently outstanding classroom practitioner dedicated to enhancing the Quality of Education at Woodlands.

As our Quality of Education Lead, Ryan is passionate about ensuring every child enjoys an engaging, well-rounded education that ignites curiosity and builds confidence. His commitment to continuous improvement is evident in his constant question: “How can we make this better?”—a mindset he brings to every aspect of school life.

Ryan holds the National Professional Qualification for Leading Teaching (NPQLT) and is currently completing his National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL).

Chantelle Prue

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Chantelle joined Woodlands in May 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to supporting the wellbeing of both children and adults. She is a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor.

Before joining Woodlands, Chantelle worked with Women’s Aid, providing specialist counselling support to victims of domestic abuse. She also worked with Embrace, supporting children who have experienced crime-related trauma. In addition to her counselling expertise, Chantelle has a strong background in Health and Safety through her previous role as a Health and Safety Co-ordinator. She joined Woodlands when she returned to the UK after living in Australia.

Chantelle is a passionate, person-centred practitioner with experience in working across a broad range of issues including bereavement, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and abuse. Known for her warm and empathetic approach, Chantelle is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment where pupils feel heard and empowered to work through their challenges.

Chantelle is also an active member of the CIT network of Safeguarding Leads and collaborates closely with professionals across the local area to promote the safety and wellbeing of the school community.

Shauna-Lea Dawson

Assistant Headteacher – Primary School (Chapel St. Leonards)

Shauna has been part of the Woodlands team since 2017, beginning her journey with us as an apprentice teaching assistant before going on to achieve Qualified Teacher Status.

She worked as a class teacher for a number of years, consistently demonstrating outstanding teaching and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for pupils.

During this time, she also led the school’s reading programme, making a significant contribution to strengthening and developing the quality of reading provision across the school.

Highly organised, driven and passionate about Primary education, Shauna now leads our provision at our satellite site in Chapel St. Leonards. She is committed to ensuring that pupils receive a high-quality education and that the provision continues to develop and thrive. Shauna currently holds the NPQLL and is undertaking the NPQSL, further developing her leadership expertise and knowledge.

Phil Buckle

Compliance and Health & Safety Lead

Phil joined Woodlands in 2019 and has been a valued member of the leadership team for the past five years. He has over 20 years teaching experience. He brings enthusiasm, dedication and a strong commitment to excellence in every aspect of school life. Prior to this he taught at Boston College and Grimsby Institute, leading on Curriculum at Grimsby.

As part of his role, Phil has overseen significant improvements to the school’s facilities and environment, helping to enhance the provision and opportunities available to our pupils. He plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both pupils and staff, while leading a wide range of key operational areas, including examinations and outcomes, health and safety, facilities and estates management, educational visits, quality assurance, and business continuity planning.

A highly dependable and proactive leader, Phil is instrumental in supporting the school’s ongoing development and improvement. His expertise, commitment and attention to detail make him an invaluable member of the Woodlands team.

As part of his role, Phil also teaches DT to all classes and as a Key Stage 4 option.

Sue Killips

Senior Administrator, Attendance & Inclusion Manager

Sue is one of the longest-serving members of staff at Woodlands, having joined us in 2009. Over the years, she has become synonymous with the school and is often the first friendly face that pupils, families and visitors see when they arrive.

As a highly driven and passionate member of the leadership team, Sue works tirelessly to support our pupils and their families. In her role as Senior Administrator, she plays a vital part in the smooth running of the school, overseeing the many essential processes and arrangements that take place behind the scenes each day.

Sue is also our key link with the Local Authority regarding school transport, working closely with families and providers to ensure pupils can travel to and from school safely. She oversees the monitoring and implementation of attendance plans, supporting pupils and families to achieve positive attendance outcomes.

Sue also leads our School Council and is passionate about ensuring that pupils have a voice in school life and are given every opportunity to thrive. Her dedication, warmth and commitment make her an integral and much-valued member of the Woodlands team.

Hannah Smith

Behaviour Lead

Hannah joined Woodlands in 2022, initially working as a teaching assistant before taking the lead on our Outdoor Education provision. She quickly became recognised for her excellent organisation, strong relationships with pupils and consistently high expectations. Following experience supporting another specialist school with behaviour and pastoral practice, Hannah took on the role of Behaviour Lead at Woodlands in 2025.

She places a strong emphasis on being proactive rather than reactive, using data, observation and a deep understanding of individual pupils to identify patterns, triggers and appropriate support strategies.

Hannah is passionate about developing positive, trusting relationships and creating an environment where pupils feel safe, understood and able to succeed. She champions emotion coaching and trauma-informed approaches, recognising that pupils’ experiences can have a significant impact on their ability to regulate emotions, communicate their needs and engage in learning.

She has also introduced a successful reward and recognition system, rooted in our THRIVE approach and linked closely to our core values.
