A typical School Day at Woodlands Academy
The page below shows the outline of a typical day at Woodlands Academy for both our Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils.
School starts at 08:45 and finishes at 14:45.
All pupils will have access to breakfast upon arrival as well as a mid-morning snack during break time.
Key Stage 4 (KS4) – Typical Day
KS4 move classrooms for each different subject – these are in our KS4 specific corridor. The KS4 corridor consists of the Humanities Room, Maths Room, Creative Arts Studio, Food and Nutrition Room, Science Lab, DT Room and the English Room. KS4 students will access core lessons of;
– English
– Maths
– Science
– PE
– Digital Skills and Careers
– PSHE / RSE
They will then choose from 5 options. These have been designed to include subjects which consist of a GCSE and vocational options. These are inline with local labour market infomation in Lincolnshire, increasing the employability of our pupils when they leave Woodlands. These options consist of;
– Option 1 – Art, RE or e-Sports
– Option 2 – Outdoor Edcuation, Public Services or Animal Care
– Option 3 – Performing Arts, Business Studies or Statistics
– Option 4 – DT, PE or Geography
– Option 5 – Food & Nutrition, Life Skills or History

Key Stage 3 (KS3) – Typical Day
Our KS3 classes stay in thier own classrooms and are taught by the same teacher for the majority of their lessons. Outdoor Education, PE, DT, Animal Care and Food Technology are taught to all KS3 classes in specialist classrooms by specialist staff. All lessons are designed to give pupils pathways into KS4 options.
For Lessons 5 & 6 on a Friday afternoon, children access activities based on their effort points scored for each lesson during the week and also have a key stage assembly. Activities include drawing club, book club, computing, football, chess, etc.
