And the animals came in three-by-three…

Today was a very exciting day as we welcomed the first residents to our new school farm! 🎉 

Over the weekend, six Runner Ducks arrived and have already started settling into their new surroundings. They certainly seemed to enjoy getting to know their new home – especially when encouraged with a few treats of frozen peas and mealworms! 🦆💚 

Then, in the afternoon, we welcomed three Alpacas to their new paddock. After a little time, patience and some gentle coaxing with carrot sticks 🥕, they soon began to settle and explore their new environment.🦙

Over the coming weeks, our Animal Care Lead will be spending time getting to know our new arrivals, building trust and beginning the process of handling and bonding with them.

And this is only the beginning! 🐐🐴 

In October, we are expecting six goats and, all being well, two ponies will also join the Woodlands Academy Farm. 

We are incredibly excited about what the farm will offer our pupils – providing opportunities to learn about animal care, responsibility, the environment and the world around them.
