Exploring Careers

Woodlands Academy pupils studying on the Design Technology and Land-based Studies courses, have had the opportunity to spend time with a Lincolnshire business owner, Mike Finch.

Finch Arboriculture Ltd provides specialist tree care throughout Lincolnshire to high level government, commercial and residential clients. Finch Arb is owned and run by experienced arborist Mike Finch. He has over 18 years tree work experience and has been running his own company since 2010.

The pupils had the opportunity to ask Mike questions about what it is like to work for yourself, the hours worked and the kit used. The pupils investigated and had the chance to hold pieces of equipment.

Mike talked to the pupils about the importance of gaining skills and training. The pupils asked a series of questions, building their links to industry, in preparation for leaving school and going onto college or an Apprenticeship.
