Water, Water, Everywhere

Following our Tesco grant last year, we purchased an irrigation system to help Woodlands Academy become sustainable in our gardens.

One of our Year 8 pupils assisted in connecting all our homegrown planting areas to the new solar powered irrigation system.

Using water harvested from the greenhouse roof, the solar powered system will automatically water our produce of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. This will increase the plants survival rates at weekends, holidays and on hot days.

We have also acquired an even bigger solar powered setup, which will be used to water the gardens, specifically the pumpkins and sweetcorn.

We cannot wait to show off our produce later in the year! Watch this space.
